James Caan, Oscar-nominated actor for ‘The Godfather,’ ‘Misery,’ and ‘Elf,’ dies at 82

The actor james caanwho went down in film history by playing Sonny in the saga The Godfatherfrom the filmmaker Francis Ford Coppolapassed away on Wednesday night at 82 yearsreported this Thursday his family through his profile of Twitter.

He is also remembered for his role as novelist Paul Sheldon in Misery, the adaptation of the work of the same name by horror and mystery writer, Stephen King. In that tape he worked alongside Kathy Bates, as the protagonist, a fan of his novels who becomes obsessed with him. Another more current role was that of Walter, the father of the elf Buddy in the film elfin which Will Ferrell is a helper of Santa Claus.

Caan’s manager, Matt DelPiano, said the actor was more of a friend than a client. “Jimmy was one of the greatest. Not only was he one of the best actors our business has ever seen, but he was funny, loyal, loving and loved,” DelPiano said in a statement. “Our relationship was always one of friendship before business. I will miss him dearly and am proud to have worked with him all these years. My thoughts and prayers are with his entire family during this difficult time.”

In recent years, Caan has been active on Twitter, where he has more than 120,000 followers. He often posted photos of him and his friends from classic movies of his. He almost always ended his online missives with “End tweet,” and his death announcement was made like that as well.
