Euskaraz irakurri: “Simone Veil” pastorala igandean estreinatuko dute

Everything is ready in Muskildi for the performance for the first time this Sunday, July 24, at 4:30 p.m. (the start has been delayed by an hour due to very hot weather forecast) of the pastoral “Simone Veil”written by Batitte Berrogain, directed by Maite Davant and set to music by Sophie Larrandaburu.

Veil (Nice, 1927 – Paris, 2017) was a well-known politician of Jewish origin who survived the Nazi death camps, and symbolizes, among others, the fight for women’s rights, the decriminalization of abortion in the French State in 1975 and the brotherhood between the European territories (she was the first female president of the European Parliament).

In the latest editions of the pastoral, the presence of contemporary characters is becoming common, as was the case of Telesforo Monzon in Larraine and Jean Pitrau in Atharratze.

In all, there will be three performances of “Simone Veil”: this Sunday; next Sunday, July 31; and Saturday, August 6.

The story of this committed woman has been written by the paid man Battitte Berrogain, and is directed by Maite Davant, who undertakes this responsibility for the first time. The musical composition is the work of Sophie Larrandaburu.

On stage there will be almost 100 actors, and in the stands there is room for 1,500 people. Although the tickets for this Sunday are sold out, there are still tickets for the following performances on the Internet and in Maule (Euskalduna jatetxea), Atharratze (M’Aud saltegia), Donapaleu (La Ferme Souletine), Donibane Garazi (Paris epizeria) and Baiona ( Elkar).

Following tradition, before the pastoral there will be mass (10:00 am), parade and food. Veil’s children had intended to attend the tribute to their mother, but finally it will be impossible for them.
