The Euskal Herria Youth Orchestra (EGO) finalizes the preparations for this summer, which will serve, among other initiatives, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the young formation. Among them, within the framework of this anniversary, he will invite the Canary Islands Youth Orchestra (JOCAN) as an exchange between both orchestras.

This is the first time that the EGO receives a young orchestra in its programming.

The Young Orchestra of the Canary Islands will offer a tour of five concerts -in Vitoria, Azkoitia, Bilbao, San Sebastián and Hondarribia-, and will be directed by its artistic director, Víctor Pablo Pérez.

The Canarian ensemble will offer a program that will begin with F. Mendelssohn’s ‘Symphony No. 1’, and the program will be completed with PI Tchaikovsky’s ‘Violin Concerto’ with soloist Nemanja Radulovic.

After this series of concerts, the musicians of the EGO together with the JOCAN will start working together, for the first time, at the Musikene headquarters, to prepare the concert offered by both orchestras in the Musical Fortnight Auditorium cycle, on August 5, together with the Orfeón Donostiarra and the mezzo-soprano from San Sebastian Carmen Artaza, in which they will perform Gustav Mahler’s ‘Symphony No. 3’, all of them under the direction of Victor Pablo Perez.

After this program, the EGO will embark on a new project, ‘Eta orain zer?’a new production show led by Kukai Dantza, which constitutes “an innovative project in which music, dance and movement will merge” and whose musical direction will be in charge of Rubén Gimeno, artistic director of the EGO.
