Vale FISE: energy unions ask to include more people in the gas balloon subsidy

The Peruvian Society of Liquefied Gas (SPGL) ruled on the need to expand the scope of the Vale FISE because it currently only benefits 30% of the population that requires it and 50% of those who have it have stopped using it. having no resources to pay the differential.

The union maintains that the rise in the price of bottled LPG has led to an increase in the consumption of firewood by thousands of homes and soup kitchens, many of which are not covered by the Vale FISE.

“This is very worrying, since the consumption of firewood is a danger to the health of the population and threatens the environment,” states the SPGL in a press release.

The SPGL indicated that, with the expansion of the threshold to access the Vale FISE, popular kitchens and other community social support sectors could be included in the coverage of this benefit.

“We must promote the energy inclusion of the Common Pots and Qali Warma to discourage the use of firewood,” he said.

On this subject, Irene Chávez Castañeda, president of the National Common Pots of Peru, urged the competent authorities to approve the Bill that strengthens the Common Pots and the Qali Warma program, guaranteeing their energy inclusion through the Vale FISE, in favor of vulnerable families, and thus avoid the use of firewood.

“The rise in the price of the LPG cylinder has caused that, currently, more than 90% of common pots are cooking with firewood. Over time, this situation is going to have a serious social impact, because the families that collaborate in the precarious environments where they work in the common pots are breathing black smoke and are going to end up with illnesses such as pulmonary fibrosis,” said the leader, cites the SPGL.

The FISE voucher grants a monthly discount of S/ 25 to vulnerable families for the purchase of 10-kilo LPG cylinders.
