MTPE: Lurawi Peru will generate 200,000 temporary jobs in the first half

The modification of the targeting criteria of Lurawi Peru, a program attached to the Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion (PEMT), will allow more direct aid interventions to be carried out in the most remote and poorest districts of the country.

This was stated by the executive director of Lurawi Peru, Adolfo Vizcarra Kusien, who specifies that a way is being sought to make a more equitable redistribution of resources.

“This new targeting has made it possible to incorporate 570 districts that, for example, last year had not been beneficiaries of the Work Peru program, today Lurawi Peru. In addition, it has allowed us that in total this year we can intervene in more than 1,303 districts, of which 54% are rural”, the official remarked.

For him first semester of this year it is planned to generate 200,000 temporary jobs, and it is expected that by the end of the year this figure can double, according to Vizcarra projects.

He also commented that due to the fact that the cost of living is getting higher and the increase in the minimum living wage, the Program has increased the incentive for participants to S/ 44 per day.

“The increase from S/ 39 to S/ 44 represents S/ 924 per month for the beneficiaries of the program. We have had an increase of slightly more than S / 100 per month, which benefits the populations that at this time have been most affected by the pandemic, ”he said.

It should be noted that the program Lurawi Peru develops two types of targeting, the first is based on the selection of districts. Thus, 1,303 of the 1,890 that make up the country have been selected for being those with fewer resources to support their vulnerable population.

Once the districts have been selected, the participants are selected from among people found to be in poverty and extreme poverty; people with disabilities or people who are victims of domestic violence or violence as a result of terrorism, and unemployed people.

Finally, he mentioned that Lurawi Peru has been carrying out interventions on public infrastructure. Regarding this, he indicated that he launched a call for the financing of immediate intervention activities in educational premises, which implies a budget of S / 120 million.

“Similarly, we are in the third 2022 call for the Program, with more than S/ 300 million, which seeks to improve tourist attractions, public school infrastructure, health posts, clear streams, clean canals, among other activities,” Vizcarra finished.
