Port of Salaverry: First stage of modernization concludes with investment of 34.9 million dollars

The National Port Authority (APN), attached to the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC), received Pier 2 of the Salaverry Multipurpose Port Terminal, in La Libertad, the last work that was pending completion as part of the first stage of the process of modernization of the station, which requires an investment of more than 34.9 million dollars.

The work of the aforementioned pier, of the breakwater type, required an investment of 7 million dollars and has an extension of 230 meters long by 30 meters wide. In addition, it has two mooring bands for ships, which have been reinforced with a concrete platform and the rehabilitation of the piles. In this way, this dock will have a greater capacity to serve larger ships and will have two mobile cranes to provide better services.

According to the works execution schedule established with the concession company Salaverry Terminal Internacional SA (STI), this month the works of stages 3 and 4 will also be completed, with investments of more than 13.5 million dollars that were advanced and include the expansion of silos for corn and wheat, and warehouses for soybeans and fertilizers.

In the third stage, the new silos of 30,000 tons of capacity will double the storage of clean bulk for the benefit of more than 5.5 million inhabitants, who will be able to have a more efficient port for the transfer of wheat, corn, fishmeal, fertilizers, among other products.

For next year, only the modernization of Pier 1 of the breakwater type is pending, which will be rehabilitated and widened as part of the works on the Sea Side of the second stage.

As a whole, this self-financed private initiative has an investment commitment of 270.1 million dollars during the 30-year concession, in which five stages will be developed, depending on demand, and a final stage called Nueva dock.

The modernization of this infrastructure will improve the efficiency and productivity of the terminal, increase logistics operations, boost the local economy and generate direct and indirect jobs in the region.
