Promperú, through its Commercial Office in the Netherlands, organized workshops on the Peruvian cocoa and chocolate with industry experts in Brussels, Rotterdam and Oslo, in order to highlight our national product and position native cocoa in northern Europe.
The activity, called Unboxing Cusco (Discovering Cusco), had a tasting of different types of cocoa and chocolates from 10 cooperatives in the Cusco region, with the purpose of making known part of the high quality Peruvian offer and the fine aroma cocoa that Peru offers to the world.
This activity emphasized the native varieties Chuncho, Vraem 15 and Vraem 99. And it allowed 11 companies in the sector, experts in cocoa and high quality chocolate, to be present in the three countries, which promoted a fruitful exchange in terms of the Peruvian samples and the response from the participants.
Exports between January and August 2021 of cocoa beans amounted to 87 million dollars, the main destination being the Netherlands with 22% share.
