AFP 2022 withdrawal: what is missing for the new withdrawals to begin?

After the full Congress of the republic approved the optional withdrawal of up to S/ 18,400 (4 UIT) from the accounts in the Pension Fund Administrators (AFP), there is still a procedure that must be followed so that said initiative can be made effective.

Currently, the so far autograph of the law is in the office of the President of the Republic, peter castlewho will have until May 27 to assess whether to enact or observe the proposal.

Aníbal Torres, president of the Council of Ministers, said that they still do not have a clear position and that the autograph of the law will be analyzed with the other ministers of State.

If observed, it would return to the Economy Commission, which will decide whether to acquiesce to the government’s questions or insist on withdrawing the funds. If so, the issue must be debated in plenary so that it is published by insistence in the newspaper A Peruvian man.

Jorge Carrillo Acosta, professor at the Pacífico Business School, indicates that, in the worst case, that is, if the autograph is observed and the Plenary decides to insist on the initiative, the AFP retirement law would be made official at the beginning of June.

However, the professor specifies that, once the rule is published, the Superintendency of Banking, Insurance and AFPs (SBS) must issue a regulation within 15 calendar days, specifying the start date of the return of pension contributions, which It could be in late June or early July.

Scope

Aldo Ferrini, general manager of AFP Integra, indicates that, if the law is enacted, all affiliates without exception would be authorized to request their withdrawal of funds. In total there would be more than 8 million beneficiaries.

In addition the Administrators expect that between S/ 25,000 and S/ 30,000 million will be withdrawnleaving around S/ 100,000 million in AFP funds.

The AFP Integra executive pointed out that this implies a withdrawal of 50% of the total funds prior to the pandemic, when there were around S / 200,000 million.

Likewise, Ferrini expressed that this legislative initiative does not have a solid argument, since we are in full economic reactivation. In addition, he adds that a pension reform should be considered instead of a new withdrawal of pension funds.
