APAVIT: Support new measures that encourage tourism during the state of emergency

Since November 1, the government in relax biosecurity restrictions for the entry of foreign and Peruvian tourists to our country. For his part, the head of the Peruvian Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies (APAVIT), Ricardo Acosta, announced that these measures support the economic reactivation of the tourism sector.

Peruvian residents and tourists will require to have completed your vaccination against COVID-19 or file a negative molecular test to enter Peru, according to DS N ° 167-2021-PCM. On the other hand, those who do not have the vaccine must enter carrying a molecular test with a negative result.

The owner of APAVIT stated that no type of test guarantees that the person is not contaminated since, after it is taken, there is the possibility of it being infected. On the other hand, he suggested requiring an antigenic and non-molecular test due to its lower cost.

“In some countries it is free. There are more places to carry out this type of tests and the result is almost immediate ”, he indicated.

Tourism is one of the pillars of the country’s economy and generates large jobs, which is why the head of APAVIT pointed out that it needs an immediate reactivation. Likewise, he estimated that the number of foreign tourists arriving in our country until the end of this year would be 600,000 tourists.

Acosta pointed out that we must raise awareness and learn to live with COVID-19, maintaining basic protocols such as a mask, hygiene and others.
