Large technology companies earn 70% more despite the component crisis

Between January and September 2021, Amazon, Facebook, Alphabet (Google’s parent company), Apple and Microsoft, achieved a net profit of 190,410 million, which represents an increase of 70.4% compared to the 109,920 million euros for the same period in 2020.

The marked rise is due in particular to the good data from Alphabet, which has doubled its profit compared to the previous year, and Apple, a company that has grown by 87.4% in the last year and it ranks as the one that obtains the most benefits of the five, with 56,580 million.

On the other hand, with 16,340 million, Facebook was the company that grew the least compared to other companies with 35%.

These five large international technology companies obtained revenues of 846,630 million euros together, in the first nine months of the year. This figure is 35.7% more than in the same period of 2020, when they billed around 632,410 million.

Individually, Facebook was the company with the highest revenue growth (45.6%), followed by Alphabet (45.1%). However, Amazon was the technology company with the highest turnover in the last nine months of the year, with around 285,270 million euros.

On the contrary, Microsoft’s turnover only grew by 20.8% compared to the same period of 2020. Meanwhile, Facebook was the company with the lowest income (72,310 million.)

Facebook grows despite controversies

With a gain of 62% until September And despite being in the middle of numerous controversies as a result of the leak of thousands of internal documents to the press and the United States Government by a former employee, Facebook has announced that it will be called Meta in its turn towards virtual reality.

The company has achieved that its revenue increased by 45.6% in the last nine months, up to 72,310 million euros.

In the case of the last three months, Facebook’s profit has suffered, growing by 17.2%, however, its turnover has risen by 35.2%.

These figures do not reflect the blackout it suffered on October 4, when all its services were deleted from the internet for more than six hoursas the event took place after the company closed its third-quarter accounts.

Semiconductor crisis

Despite the global semiconductor crisis and the lack of containers in China, the large international technology companies have managed to grow in the last year. Specifically, the Apple company believes that the difficulties in the supply chain affect the availability of your products and, consequently, to your sales affecting your accounts in the future.

Amazon, for its part, has warned this week that it is “ready” for the holiday season. Specifically, the company will have a fleet of 85 aircraft, 50,000 of its own trucks, and a network of 260,000 drivers so that users can “get what customers want, when they want and where they want.”
