Pedro Castillo delays way out of Petroperú’s crisis

Yesterday, at the beginning of the day, President Pedro Castillo received Economy Minister Oscar Graham for almost an hour.

According to the record of visits from the presidential office, it was the first meeting that the president had and where he collected information on the financial situation of Petroperú and the scope that the rating reductions would have in the first company in the country.

But it was not the only meeting that Castillo had to discuss the Petroperú issue. The president received for 20 minutes a delegation led by Hugo Chávez, general manager of Petroperú; Fernando de la Torre, corporate finance manager of the company; and on the side of the Ministry of Energy and Mines (minem) They were Denis Joel Tapia, General Director of Hydrocarbons; Rafael Reyes, Vice Minister of Hydrocarbons; and Wider Herrera, general secretary of the min. After this meeting, the president traveled to the city of Cusco.

Meeting with Comptroller

Upon his return to Lima, Castillo held a working meeting with Comptroller Nelson Shack, who, among other topics, explained the reasons for his concern over the drop in Petroperú’s rating.

“We have just finished a work meeting to discuss different issues. Among them the great concern we have about Petroperú. The Comptroller’s Office has had the opportunity to express the facts as they have occurred and it has become absolutely clear that it is not possible to continue in this situation of weakness in the corporate governance of Petroperu. Confidence in the government of Petroperú needs to be restored and I imagine that the president will make the necessary decisions so that this can be put on the right track soon,” Shack said as he left the Palace.

After this meeting, Castillo met again with Hugo Chávez from Petroperú, who this time was accompanied by Minister Carlos Palacios from Minem. The meeting lasted about an hour.

At the close of this edition, it was speculated that the dismissal of the Minister of Economy, Oscar Graham, would be evaluated in Government palace.
