What projects do you have for this 2022?

As of December 31, 2021, we serve 464 thousand clients throughout the region. That means that we are covering 94.2% of the electrification coefficient. For this 2022, we have a very aggressive investment program that amounts to 159 million soles, of which S/ 29 million will be for new electrification in emerging areas of the 8 provinces of the region. The balance will be for investment projects to guarantee the continuity of the electrical service.

Where will this investment be made?

Electric power will be provided to more than 48 human settlements.

In what term?

We are in the process of bidding, there is a large group of settlements that we must take out in April. In an average of 6 months the works must be completed. There was a first tender, unfortunately for questions of observations, it fell. That is why we are convening a new one for April.

With these new connections, will 100% of the population be covered?

We’d love to, but the population is constantly growing. Every year there are new emerging areas, some cannot be electrified because they do not meet the requirements that the law contemplates to establish electrification projects. But if we plan to reach 96% this year.

What requirements?

That they have the possession document from the municipality, that they are duly organized in associations.

Do you have a smart meter installation project, how will it benefit the population?

We have carried out pilot projects in previous years. This year the first massive installation of 7,500 smart meters has already been approved. They will be controlled directly from the company’s control center. The measurements will be exact, because they will not require the human being who is likely to make mistakes or make a complaint, it will be through digital mechanisms. The user will have the full security that he is paying exactly what his meter indicates. The user will be able to control this measurement reading through the web page. You will also be able to monitor how the consumption of your electrical system is going and rationalize its use.

Will this installation be done due to a previous evaluation that they have done or can users request it?

This is an evaluation made by the company according to technical criteria and it progresses periodically, year after year.

In the pandemic there were quite a few complaints about the very context in which the measurement had to be made.

Indeed, due to the process of social immobilization, it prevented the meters from being measured. If we had had smart meters, we would not have had this problem.

Are other campaigns being carried out to approach the population?

We have Seal campaigns in your neighborhood, which means making a change in the mentality of the people of Arequipa. Well, they are used to approaching the company, in this case the company is looking for the user.

How is the demand for energy in the region, is the provision assured?

We have the capacity to meet all user requirements as stipulated.

Has consumption now increased with the return to attendance and semi-attendance?

At the beginning of the pandemic there was a drop in energy use because all activities were paralyzed, then there was growth because there was a lot of remote work and the educational issue. Today we are reaching consumption levels similar to pre-pandemic levels and we think that in 2022 we are going to have significant growth. Commercial activity is now at 100%.❖
