Peruvians residing abroad in greater proportion live in rented homes representing 66.3%, those who have their own home constitute 22.3% of the total; while 8.7% live or share a home with family or a friend, and 2.7% live in another type of home, according to the First World Survey of the Peruvian Community Abroad carried out by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The same survey is being carried out after 10 years and will allow updated information to be obtained of the main demographic, social, economic characteristics, vulnerability, migratory situation and connection with Peru of Peruvians residing abroad, with emphasis on the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, in order to serve as a tool for decision-making. of decision of public and private institutions, and structure better policies in favor of the Peruvian migrant, indicates the INEI.
It should be noted that, in response to the call of multiple organizations and associations of Peruvians abroad, the INEI announced that the execution of the II World Survey of the Peruvian Community Abroad has been extended until April 30 of this year.
Likewise, it is recalled that all the information provided will be protected in accordance with Law 29733, Personal Data Protection Law.
