Adrián Vila, general manager of Pluspetrol, the operating company of the Camisea Consortium, said that there is enough natural gas in the field to supply “twice all of Peru.”
During President Pedro Castillo’s visit to the Malvinas Gas Plant, in the Megantoni district, Cusco province of La Convencion, Vila assured that, from the consortium made up of Sonatrach, Hunt Oil Company, Repsol, Tecpetrol, SK Innovation and Pluspetrol, they will support the Government’s efforts to promote the massification of natural gas.
“We have enough natural gas in the country. About 25% of the production is reinjected, that is, it is returned to the well. This amount would make it possible to supply natural gas twice to all of Peru ”, he remarked.
In this sense, the executive noted that Camisea develops initiatives such as “Natural Gas for Vehicle Use (NGV) in Cusco”, where the company, in coordination with the Regional Government, finances the provision of NGV for three gas centers, of which one already It is in operation in the San Jerónimo district.
“During the visit we expressed our commitment to support any initiative that seeks the massification of natural gas. As a producer of the resource, we want the families of Peru to benefit from energy, which is cleaner and cheaper than other fuels, and also contributes to the environment ”, said the Pluspetrol representative.
In addition, he recalled that the State is the main partner of the consortium, since it is the buyer of at least two-thirds of all the natural gas of Camisea, for which he welcomed the interest of President Pedro Castillo for a change of turn in policies of overcrowding.
“We consider that the State is our main partner, because it receives around 65% of the income generated by the Camisea Consortium, and it is very positive that it shows interest and commitment to promote the massification of natural gas,” he concluded.
