Faced with the institutional crisis that Peru’s first company is going through, the Petroperú Administrative Workers’ Union (STAPP) called for a 48-hour national strike for March 21 and 22.
This strike takes place with the intention that the state company cease with the abuse of the management and the offense that the workers and union leaders have been suffering. In addition, they demand compliance with the 2021 arbitration award and the removal of the current general manager Hugo Chávez Arévalo.
“We have called a work stoppage for this Monday and Tuesdaybut we are aware that the company has to have continuity, so we are not forcing essential personnel to abide by the strike because there has to be some continuity”, said Aldo Collantes, general secretary of STAPP.
