In its fourth day of unemployment, the strike of carriers begins to have consequences in some sectors

In this fourth day of strike to protest the disproportionate rise in fuel prices, the consequences of the strike are already beginning to be felt. Yesterday they took the protests to the seat of the Basque Government. Today, instead, a truck caravan It left at 08:00 hours from Zierbena to Elorrio.

On the other hand, the dairy industry Spain has announced that it is forced to suspend its transforming activity as a result of the transport strike that has been taking place since last Monday.

Specifically, the factories have seen the supply of the necessary inputs for the production of dairy products interrupted and also the transfer of the finished product to the distribution chains, for which the capacity for packaging and storage and management of a food that is highly perishable and essential for the daily consumption.

In addition, the association chemical companies and allies in the Basque Country AVEQ-KIMIKA has warned that the strike in the carrier sector over the cost of fuel and “the indiscriminate blockade” of transport endangers “essential services for the Basque population”.

In a note, the general secretary of said organization, Luis Blanco Urgoiti, has warned that “the road transport blockade is leading to extreme situations” for activities considered essential and “can cause irreparable damage for Basque society”.
