President reaffirms that massification of natural gas will materialize in his government

The President of the Republic, Pedro Castillo, reaffirmed this afternoon that during his government “the long-awaited project of the mass use of natural gas will materialize.” The head of state remarked that the benefited departments will be “two producing regions: Cusco and Ucayali, and five high Andean regions: Ayacucho, Huancavelica, Junín, Apurímac and Puno.”

The Executive’s proposal, which is one of the main campaign promises of the current administration, was sent to Congress in November of last year, where it remained in the Energy and Mines Commission until a couple of weeks ago when a prediction was approved with some modifications.

Among the main changes that the commission led by congressman Carlos Alva Rojas of Popular Action proposed to the autograph, is that the promotion by the Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) for gas network construction projects will not fall directly on Petroperubut will be developed through public tenders in which the private sector will also participate.

They will invest about S / 4,000 million in electrification, sanitation and water

On the other hand, the president, during his message to Congress, stated that by 2026, 98% of rural electricity coverage will be reached with an investment of S/2,000 million in 104 electrification projects.

He also indicated that this year several drinking water and sanitation works will be completed at the national level. “In December of this year, 358 works will be completed in rural areas and 196 in urban areas, referring to drinking water and sanitation. This represents S/ 1,718 million of investment”
