This week the situation will be evaluated with a view to a return to production, according to ArcelorMittal sources quoted by Europa Press.
The Compact Steelworks of Bizkaia (ACB), located in Sestao, will remain shut down until at least March 23 due to the cost of electricity. This week the situation will be evaluated with a view to a return to production, according to ArcelorMittal sources quoted by Europa Press.
The high cost of energy is the reason, according to the same sources, that the Sestao ACB remains without productive activity, which has led it to apply the ERTE to the workforce.
The same sources have indicated that, for the time being, there will be a ten-day standstill according to the calendar that had been established for work and rest days. Therefore, until March 23, at least, work will not be done in the ACB and this week the situation will be evaluated and the evolution of prices and forecasts for the coming days will be monitored with a view to see if the steel mill could start production.
On the other hand, the ArcelorMittal Olaberria plant (Gipuzkoa) continues to work “intermittently” and is taking advantage of the time slots in which the electricity cost is somewhat lower.
