The workers of PCB-ITP, accompanied by employees of other companies with labor disputes, have demonstrated in Sestao under the motto “Eskerrik asko”, to thank the “support” they have had in defending the employment of the 83 workers affected by the canceled ERE.
The demonstration has also served to “celebrate” the Supreme Court ruling with which the ruling of the Superior Court of Justice of the Basque Country was ratified, which had declared null and void the dismissal of those workers who will now be able to return to their jobs.
In statements to the media, the president of the works council, Ángel Rodríguez, has indicated that on Monday there will be a meeting with the management to see how “this staggered entry” of the affected workers to the Barakaldo plants will take place. and Sestao.
He has assured that the management will be required to return “to their jobs”, as the Supreme Court ruling stated “very clearly”, and has stressed that the workers “will return to their jobs”, of which ” They should never have left.”
Rodríguez has indicated that “the objective” has always been for “colleagues to occupy their jobs” and that from now on, with their incorporation, the aim will be to achieve “a certain normality” in the plants and “to get to work, which is what we all need.”
After the demonstration, the PCB-ITP works council celebrated “the victory of the PCB staff” against “a ruthless giant like the ITP group” whose objective was “ruin the lives of 83 families” and “dive a little deeper into poverty” to the Left Bank.
He thanked the support received from different groups, unions and political parties in his “fight” against the ERE and has criticized “the disastrous management” of the Basque Government “in this and other labor conflicts” in which the Basque Executive has shown a “clear position in favor of the employers”.
