The New Talara Refinery (NRT), in Piura, registers an advance of more than 97% as confirmed by the head of the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM), Carlos Palacios Pérez, during a meeting with the directors of the state company Petróleos del Perú (Petroperu).

In this way, the NRT will process more products of higher quality and in greater quantity.
During the meeting, held at the Petroperú facilities, Palacios specified that the national firm and the MINEM promote Peru, progressively, in industrialization with a view to competing in international markets, to produce clean, high-quality fuel.
“Peruvians are going to consume clean, high-octane gasoline at a very affordable price, as in other producing countries in Latin America. Our country deserves it, because it has oil, it has reserves, and we are going to invest in exploration and exploitation”, said Minister Palacios Pérez.
The MINEM has pointed out that the modern refinery incorporates a new technology called flexicoking, in accordance with the regulations with the highest international environmental standards and national regulations for the benefit of preserving air quality and the health of Peruvians.
“We want development, industrialization, adding value not only to oil. We need a petrochemical industry that becomes a reality as soon as possible. We need political will at the service of Peru creating all the conditions to have good practices, because we have everything to do it”, Palacios stressed.
Likewise, he pointed out that, with the operation of the refinery, the price of fuel will drop with the progressive advance, it will generate profitability in the country, where Petroperu it will become Peru’s energy insurance.
