OEFA partially suspends the stoppage of loading and unloading in La Pampilla

The Agency for Environmental Assessment and Enforcement (OEFA) lifted this Thursday the temporary stoppage of loading and unloading activities at the Multiboya Terminal 1 of Repsol’s La Pampilla refinery.

It is worth remembering that this measure was implemented after the oil spill in mid-January in Ventanilla.

According to OEFA, the end of the suspension of activities occurred after verifying that Repsol complied with submitting its Management Plan for hydrocarbon spills at sea and a technical report by a specialized entity that evidences the integrity of the operating facilities.

However, they emphasize that said technical report was transferred to Osinergmin so that the respective actions can be carried out.

In addition, they detail that loading and unloading activities at the Multibuoys 2 and 3 terminals, and Monobuoy T-4 will continue to be paralyzed until Repsol proves compliance with the Management Plan for hydrocarbon spills at sea and the required technical report.

Said La Pampilla terminals saw their activities interrupted after it was confirmed that Repsol was unable to stop the displacement of the spilled crude oil until January 24.

“The company has presented evidence that its pipeline and engineering work well. It is not in bad condition, let’s say (sic) that it could mean danger. These pipes and components already have their time and suddenly they can be a little rusty somewhere, ”said the Minister of the Environment, to a local media. Modesto Montoya.

Finally, Montoya recalled that only Multibuoy Terminal 1 is authorized to operate.
