Tax collection for the first two months of the year (January and February) amounted to $2,592 millionwhich represents a growth of 15%, that is, $344 million more than what was collected in the same period of 2021, which was $ 2,248 million, reported this Tuesday the Internal Revenue Service (SRI).
Marisol Andrade, general director of the institution, reported that only in February 2022, $1,036 million in collections were reached, which represents an increase of $91 million more compared to February 2021, equivalent to a growth of 10%.
Tax collection grew in January 2022 by 19%
“The increase in tax collection is undoubtedly positive news for the country, it is the result of the control and collection processes carried out at the national level to verify the timely and correct compliance with the payment of taxes. In addition, it is also a product of the economic reactivation of the country as a result of the actions of the Government,” Andrade said.
With respect to value added tax (VAT)in the first two months of 2022 they collected $1,372 million, 24% more in relation to the same period of the previous year. In February 2022 alone, $545 million was raised, 15% more than in the same month in 2021.
By concept of Income taxwere collected $740 million, 4% more than the first two months of the previous year. The February 2022 gross was $273 million. (I)
