Natural persons who during the year 2021 had an excess in the payment of Income Tax (due to monthly withholdings, direct payments or deductible expenses) can request via the internet the return of that amount with direct payment to their bank account reported the National Superintendence Customs and Tax Administration (Sunat).
According to estimates by the entity, some 228,000 natural persons (workers who receive income as independent or as independent and dependent at the same time) will request the return of their credit balance, for an accumulated amount of about S/ 308 million.
To obtain the refund, you must first submit your 2021 Annual Income Statement, using form 709, available in the APP People or Sunat Virtual, where you will find detailed information on your income, withholdings and deductible expenses to facilitate your return.
If they have a credit balance, at that very moment, the system will ask you if you wish to request a refund and the method of payment, the fastest and most convenient being direct payment to the bank account.
If the worker did not previously register the Code of his Interbank Account (CCI), or wishes to update it, he may do so at that time, in the APP People or Sunat Virtual.
The bank account must be in national currency, belong to the beneficiary of the refund and must not correspond to a Service Time Compensation account (CTS).
Once the return request has been submitted, you will receive the respective certificate in the electronic mailbox. Although the legal term to make the return is up to 45 business days after its presentation, SUNAT has significantly reduced the terms of attention of these requests.
It should be noted that, in the previous income campaign, more than 216,000 workers who received income as independent or as independent and dependent at the same time, received refunds in response to their applications, for a total of S/ 226 million.
In the case of workers on the payroll (dependents) who during 2021 made deductible expenses, generating a balance in their favor, the refund will be made automatically, without the need to present the Annual Income Tax Declaration, by means of a deposit in their bank account, provided that your Interbank Account Code (CCI) has been registered with Sunat.
