Three branches of the Savings and Credit Cooperative (Coopac) My Financial they did not open, which caused fear in savers. These are located on the commercial platform of Avelino Cáceres, Cayma and El Pedregal. After hearing the news, dozens of partners went to the main headquarters located in the oval of Mariscal Castilla Avenue in the city of Arequipa, where they requested their funds, but they only received refusals. This brings to mind the case of the cooperatives Presta Perú and Credicoop, which left thousands without their savings.

One of these partners is Rocío, a young woman who entered savings for S/ 10,000 for a fixed term and who hoped to continue her studies with that money. After hearing the news through the media, he first went to the Cayma headquarters, but found it closed. Later, she went to Mariscal Castilla’s, where he requested that they return his money. However, the only thing she received was negative. The workers told him that they could not give him the money until June, because they were recovering the loans that were not paid due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Another partner indicated that he had deposited about S / 50,000, product of his savings and the sale of properties. Mi Financiera offered him 14% annual interest, so he received some monthly money as a payment to cover his expenses. Yesterday he went and they gave him an amount, but not all that they should have. Aware of the news, he also asked for her money to be given to him, but received the same response as Rocío.

According to the first information, Mi Financiera is in the process of judicial liquidation. The SBS filed this measure in 2018, but, after the law was approved that empowers it to intervene and regulate the Coopac, it requested the conclusion of the process to do their work directly. Mi Financiera appealed and now filed an appeal that only delays an imminent bankruptcy.

The Republic tried to talk with the manager of the headquarters of Mariscal Castilla, Oscar Benavente. He asked for a few minutes. He then came out and claimed that he would run a quick errand. After an hour of waiting, we had to leave.
