There are 25 companies from the Basque Country established in Russia, 50 in the Czech Republic and another 50 in Poland.
The Basque Government will analyze “case by case” possible financial support to industries affected by the war in ukraine and by the sanctions imposed on Russia, which are affected by the lack of raw materials, transport and production due to the rise in energy prices.

The Minister of Economic Development, Sustainability and the Environment, Arantza Tapiaheld a meeting this Thursday at the headquarters of the Basque Government, in Vitoria-Gasteiz, with representatives of the CAV clusters to analyze the consequences of the war for companies in the Basque Country and especially those that are established in countries such as Poland , Czech Republic and Russia.
In a subsequent press conference, the minister acknowledged that the representatives of the industries had asked the Basque Government for help before the uncertainty that the contracts and orders you have signed can be fulfilled or paid.
Tapia has indicated that he is going to study this request, but has not clarified much more. He has explained that it will be necessary to analyze “case by case” and, for example, has said that the Basque Government could “bear” a certain guarantee that, if executed, would produce a complicated situation in a company. “Let’s see how we can deal with that situation”has remarked.

During the meeting, the representatives of the CAV industry predicted a new increase in the prices of raw materials and energy due to the consequences of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and also expressed concern about the uncertainty in the markets that could affect access to more expensive financing.
The clusters have shown their concern, also about the delay in the economic recovery that this economic uncertainty can cause, especially after the pandemic, which can lead to the consumption slowdown and the possible stoppage of investments.
The minister explained that the Basque Government, through the Basque Internationalization Agency (Basque Trade)is in “daily and constant contact” with the companies located in the affected areas to study the impact of the war.
