British Airways and Virgin Atlantic are testing expedited entry controls for fully vaccinated passengers arriving in the UK at Heathrow Airport.
As part of the pilot project, travelers can digitally upload their vaccination status on four routes before checking in. Similar identification procedures have also been introduced in several other countries.
British Airways explains on its website that travelers of all nationalities can present their Covid-19 identification in digital or paper form so that the vaccination status can be checked quickly and easily before entering the UK.
UK aviation companies had previously requested quarantine-free entry to the UK from lower risk countries.
At the beginning of the week, Germany was the last country to accept fully vaccinated travelers from the UK without quarantine.
