Tax collection for February reached S/ 10,644 million, a growth of 5.1%

The National Superintendence of Customs and Tax Administration (Sunat) reported that, in February of this year, the collection amounted to S/ 10,644 million of Net Central Government tax revenues (discounting tax refunds). tax). This result represents an increase of 5.1% compared to the same month last year.

Among the factors that affected collection was the performance of the Gross Domestic Product and domestic demand in January, around 1.5% and 2.2% respectively according to official estimates, which is reflected in the collection results. from VAT and Corporate Income Tax. Likewise, the higher income was thanks to customs taxes, especially for VAT, due to the increase in imports (+17.0%) and the exchange rate (+4.2%).

Likewise, Sunat specified that, in February of this year, extraordinary payments exceeded S/ 50 million.

Unpacking figures

For income tax, the State collected S/ 4,270 million last February, a figure that represents an increase of 8.8% compared to the same period in 2021. This result mainly reflects the better payments on account of the General Regime and the Mype Tax Regime, which together grew 18.1%, due to higher revenues, depletion of balances in favor and better coefficients for determining monthly payments; in a still favorable context, especially in the case of the miner.

They also highlighted the higher payments for Second Category Income (46.2%); Fifth Category (8.7%), Fourth Category (13.8%), Non-domiciled Income (18.0%) and First Category (18.9%); which was attenuated by the lower Regularization payments (-72.2%), a contraction that is due to the higher comparison base that February 2021 represented, when registering important extraordinary payments in this concept.

Regarding the General Sales Tax (IGV), its collection amounted to S/ 6,488 million, representing an increase of S/ 864 million compared to what was registered in February 2021 and 8.7% in percentage terms.

The recaudation of the Selective Consumption Tax (ISC) registered a growth of 8.6% reaching S/ 803 million. Meanwhile, the proceeds from other income amounted to S/ 681 million, an amount that represents a growth of 9.4% compared to February 2021.

Finally, Sunat detailed that, in February of this year, the tax refunds made amounted to S / 1,744 million, an amount that represented a growth of 40.4% compared to February 2021.
