Osiptel: How to compare the performance of mobile internet offered by operators?

Citizens will be able to know and directly compare the performance of the quality of experience of the mobile internet service offered by the main operating companies in their district, province and region with the free digital tool Check your Mobile Internet, implemented by the Private Investment Supervisory Body in Telecommunications (Osiptel).

Through graphs and dynamic information, the tool presents the results of the monthly indicators of upload (upload) and download (download) speed, coverage time, latency and loss of data packets, corresponding to the user experience in 3G and 4G technology mobile internet access networks.

“After processing the information collected from 150 million monthly measurements, Check your Mobile Internet presents data on the comparative performance of more than 600 districts nationwide in the 25 regions of the national territory,” detailed Osiptel.

The published data will be updated monthly. To verify whether the performance by operating company has been constant from month to month, the monthly digital portal offers citizens the possibility of accessing historical results since May 2021 and accessing previous reports published, in presentation format, in the repository of the Osiptel.

In this way, users will be able to choose the operating company that has the best performance according to the indicators that it filters in the geographical area of interest. Thus, they will have in their hands one more tool to decide if it is convenient for them to keep or change the operator, in a more informed way.

How is Czech your Mobile Internet used?

Users will be able to access the virtual platform through the Osiptel website or directly through https://checatuinternetmovil.osiptel.gob.pe/ from their computer, smartphone, tablet or any mobile device.

The results of the national indicators will appear on the web portal. To filter them according to the user’s interest, you must choose the region, province, district, period (year and month) from the drop-down list, as well as choose the type of network (3G and 4G). Another faster option is to click on the visible region on the map of Peru and repeat the action with the province and district.

It is important to point out that not all localities in the country have the presence of smartphones, declared 3G or 4G coverage, so in these areas it will not be feasible to collect measurements or achieve their statistical representativeness, so the indicated result will be ND ( not available).

To facilitate its understanding, Check your Mobile Internet also has a video tutorial that explains the use of the platform, whose function is fully informative and based on a focus on quality of user experience.
