INEI: mining and hydrocarbon production increased 4.53% during January

The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) He explained that during January of this year, mining and hydrocarbon production rose by 4.53%, compared to the same month in 2021.

The result is explained by the growth of 3.61% in the mining subsector and 9.76% in hydrocarbons.

In mining, INEI specifies that there were higher production volumes of (14.7%), copper (11.4%), gold (4.5%) and molybdenum (0.2%); on the contrary, the extraction of iron (-29.6%), zinc (-13.2%), lead (-1.8%) and silver (-0.2%) decreased.

While in hydrocarbons, thanks to the greater extraction of crude oil (20.2%), natural gas (17.6%) and natural gas liquids (0.7%).

contracted fishing

On the other hand, fishing production was reduced -30.27% due to the lower capture of species of maritime origin (-32.64%), given that 111,127 tons of anchovy were registered for indirect human consumption, a figure far from 516,961 tons January 2021.

However, the extraction of species for direct human consumption grew due to the greater maritime landing for frozen (35.8%) and canned (30.9%); although, the extraction of species for preparation of curing and consumption in the fresh state fell by -16.1% and -21.9%, respectively.

Domestic cement consumption falls

Finally, the internal consumption of cement – barometer of the progress of construction in the country – contracted -1.60% due to the lower dynamism of private and public works within the national emergency.
