More than 100,000 people have already filed their 2021 annual income statement

The National Superintendence of Customs and Tax Administration (Sunat) has reported that more than 100,000 individuals, out of a total of more than 600,000, have already filed their 2021 Annual Income Tax Return through one of the institution’s online platforms.

I know remember that this declaration must be submitted by natural persons who have, among other income, employment income for the fourth (independent worker) and fifth (worker on the payroll) category; as well as those who have foreign source income with a balance in favor of Income Tax and those who have balances in favor of previous years.

To perform the Annual statement, The institution has made the People APP available to citizens, which must be downloaded or updated from Google Play or the App Store. Once you enter, you must click on the Annual Income option, then select Annual Income Declaration and, finally, confirm or modify the declaration proposal.

If you choose to do it from the SUNAT portal, you must go to http://renta.sunat.gob.pe/, click on the Declare option and in just a few minutes the process will be completed.

Returns, payments and fractionation

If you have a balance in your favor, you can register or update the Interbank Account Code (CCI) so that Sunat deposits the refund directly into your bank account, as long as it is your own account, in national currency and not a CTS account.

On the other hand, if you have to make a payment, you can do it online using any debit or credit card so you don’t have to go to a bank agency.

Likewise, you can access the benefit of the deferral and/or installment of the amount to be regularized, an option that will be enabled automatically after submitting the declaration. The months and installments to be deferred and/or divided will depend on the amount of the determined tax debt.
