Mercedes suspends production from this Monday due to the “critical situation” in supplies

As of March 7, production is maintained as planned, although, due to “the existing high uncertainty and the lack of short-term visibility”, it will be reported on March 3 whether the restart is confirmed.

The Mercedes-Benz Vitoria plant has suspended the three production shifts from this Monday and until March 4, due to the “critical situation” of the supply chain derived from the lack of availability in the semiconductor market.

The Plant Management decided to suspend next week the three shifts in all the production sectors, Gross Assembly, Painting and Final Assembly, which will be carried out at the cost of the exchange and all direct and indirect personnel associated with the same, with the exception of people who are required for “tasks that must be carried out”.

For the following week, as of March 7, production is maintained as planned, although, due to “the existing high uncertainty and the lack of short-term visibility”, on March 3 it will be reported whether the restart of production is confirmed or, on the contrary, “the need for additional suspension of days” continues, they have explained from the Directorate.

On the other hand, as a consequence of the production losses generated during the next month of March due to the current situation of lack of supply, it has been planned to work on Saturdays March 12, 19 and 26 in the sectors of Gross Assembly, Painting and Final Assembly, which will affect all direct and indirect personnel associated with them.

This planning aims to “ensure the possibility of recovering lost production and delivering the volume committed to customers.”
