As part of the second agrarian reform in the provision of credits to small producers and to promote agricultural activity, the Agrobanco approved a credit of S / 14.7 million to the Cooperativa Agraria Norandino for the direct benefit of 7,000 farmers in Tumbes, Piura, Lambayeque, Cajamarca, San Martín, Amazonas and Ucayali.
As reported by the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri), the resources assigned to the aforementioned cooperative come from the Agroperú Fund and will be used for the collection, transformation and commercialization of agricultural products.
This is in line with one of the central axes of the second agrarian reform, which is to facilitate access to credit and timely financing for small producers of family agriculture, to enhance their agricultural activities, access more markets and achieve better prices for their products. products.
The main beneficiaries of the credit support will be more than 7,000 small producers from Tumbes, Piura, Lambayeque, Cajamarca, San Martín, Amazonas and Ucayali, affiliated to the Cooperativa Agraria Norandino, who will be able to improve their negotiating capacity in the sale of their products, generating thus economies of scale and competitive insertion in the national and international market.
What does this direct financing consist of?
Midagri pointed out that these loans have an interest rate of 3.5% and are oriented to the processes of collection, transformation and commercialization of agricultural products; the purchase and marketing of agricultural inputs; the development of the South American camelid chain; and the acquisition of inputs, materials and specialized services for livestock.
It should be noted that these financing line programs are intended to leverage small farmer organizations to generate economies of scale, which were implemented by Agrobanco with the resources of the Agroperú Fund, in April 2021.
Equipment program
Currently, Agrobanco is carrying out the equipment and productive development program, through which the associations of small producers will be able to access timely financing for the implementation of their agricultural infrastructure, with the resources of the Agroperú Fund.
Midagri reported that organized small agricultural producers can request this loan on behalf of their formally constituted association, which should not present overdue debt with the Agroperú Fund.
For this, it is not necessary for the organization to have a credit history, and if it does, it must be up to date on its payments. The loan payment term varies according to the program requested by the organization, from 6 to 18 months.
