Private investment in 2021 was higher by S/ 40,000 million than in 2019

During 2021, private investment in Peru amounted to S/ 179,730 million, representing a growth of 29% compared to what was registered in 2019, when S/ 139,204 million were reported. In detail, in the fourth quarter of last year, private investment was S/ 48,197 million, which means an increase of 33% compared to the same period in 2019, when S/ 36,343 million was reported, which implies around S/ 12,000 million additional to what was previously registered.

Likewise, former Minister Francke highlighted that private investment in the second half of last year was higher than that reported in the first half of 2021, since it rose from S/ 84,458 million to S/ 95,278 million, representing about S/ 11,000 million. plus.

According to the BCRP, the mining investment increased from US$ 4,325 million in 2020 to US$ 5,238 million in 2021. This result was explained, especially, by the higher spending allocated to infrastructure (63.1%), development and preparation (52.0%) and exploration (51.5%).

According to companies, the largest amount invested during 2021 corresponded to Anglo American Quellaveco (25% of total mining investment), followed by Antamina (9.2%), Southern Peru Copper Corporation (6.5%) and Antapaccay (5.0%).
