The Great Place to Work firm released the list of the best places to work in Ecuador in 2021. The labor programs of each of the companies were analyzed.
The study shows that the best workplaces have high levels of trust at the core of their culture. Additionally, these organizations have clear values, leaders who embody them, and also hold others accountable for living them, according to Great Place to Work.
“We have proven that the best places to work have higher productivity, retain more talent and encourage the workforce to have more disruptive thinking, to provide that extra mile,” said Ricardo Dueñas, CEO of Great Place to Work Ecuador. Disseminate the report on February 3.
The list was divided between companies that register up to 500 employees and those that exceed that number.
Top 10 of the best companies to work for in 2021 in Ecuador

1. McDonald’s Ecuador.
The fast food franchise has 1,619 workers across the country. Arcos Dorados, which operates the McDonald’s brand in Latin America and in the country, invested more than 4 million dollars between 2020 and 2021, critical years due to the pandemic, in Ecuador. 2. Guayaquil Bank.

3. Eurofish S.A.
Company dedicated to the manufacture and export of tuna. It has a production of 45,000 metric tons per year that supplies markets around the world. It registers 1,994 employees. In addition, it has a fishing fleet of 21 boats.
4. Solidarity Bank.
It has 1,281 employees. According to its website, in Latin America, it was the first bank specialized in microcredit with 100% private capital, and the first in Ecuador to dedicate itself exclusively to this form of financial operation. “We support almost half a million microenterprises, to which we disbursed 3,000 million dollars in credit,” says the site.

5. Naturisa SA
It is dedicated to the exploitation of shrimp farms (shrimp farms), crustacean larvae farms (larva laboratories). It has 1,161 employees and was founded in 1987.

It is a Mexican company dedicated to the production of food and that acquired the Ecuadorian brand Supán. In South America they have a presence in Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, Uruguay, Peru, Brazil and Ecuador. It registers 1,122 workers.

10. South Central Regional Electric Company CA
It is a public company dedicated to the distribution and commercialization of energy in the Ecuadorian Austro. It has 584 employees.

According to the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INEC), in January 2022 the adequate or full employment rate (income greater than $425) was 33.1%. The unemployment rate was 5.4%.
In December 2021, the increase in the employment rate was different in each sector. The industry with the greatest increase in the percentage of employed persons was manufacturing, which was also among the five activities with the highest growth in sales between January and November 2021, compared to the same months in 2020.

- Mines with 43%
- Construction with 29%
- Care and health with 27%
- Manufacturing with 25%
While agriculture was the activity with the greatest reduction in the proportion of employed persons. It had a contraction of 7%: it went from 32% reported in 2019 and 2020 to 25% in 2021. (I)
