The International Energy Agency calls for protection for those harmed by the energy transition

Furthermore, it insists that this transition should create as many “good quality” and “well paid” jobs as possible.

A commission sponsored by the International Energy Agency (IEA) and made up of political leaders and representatives of civil society stresses that the transition to clean energy to be successful you must protect workers and communities that will be harmed.

In presenting a list of 12 recommendations published this Tuesday on the eve of COP26 in Glasgow, the so-called Global Commission also insists that this transition must be designed in such a way as to create as many “decent jobs” as possible.

That is, let them be “good quality” jobs and “well paid“, the IEA highlighted in a statement.

All policies have to be focused on equality and social inclusion, as well as actively involving all citizens, according to the members of this Global Commission led by the Danish Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen.

They also agree that priority must be given to access to clean energy and elimination of energy poverty.
