Midagri plans to increase the budget to S/ 100 million to serve producers

The Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (MIDAGRI) communicated that it is generating a package of measures in favor of the beginning of the Second Agrarian Reform, and in the face of the problems that have been affecting agricultural activity, in order to guarantee food security and supply quality and safe products to more than 33 million consumers.

The head of this portfolio, Oscar Zea, said that given the rise in fertilizers in the field, the ministry has proposed to the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) the increase in the budget up to an additional amount of S/ 100 million to benefit small producers with less than two hectares.

Likewise, Zea added that the sector is preparing a package of regulations to facilitate the direct purchase of fertilizers and agrochemicalswhich will allow irrigation organizations to acquire this important input.

In relation to the construction of a petrochemical plant that would facilitate having a fertilizer production plant at affordable prices for the direct benefit of small producers, the minister pointed out that this measure would correspond to the Ministry of Energy and Mines, in terms of the implementation process.

Similarly, the MIDAGRI plans to obtain budget allocations for the acquisition of modern agricultural machinery to enhance and improve crop production.

In addition, he argued that MIDAGRI, in compliance with Law 27767 “State Purchasing Law”, seeks to incorporate small producers into health, taxation, associativity and formalization measures, in order to facilitate family farming the placement of its products in various state social programs.

As it is recalled, during the week the head of this ministry participated in the GORE-EXECUTIVE where he held meetings with 13 regional governors, and yesterday in Chiclayo, along with other members of the cabinet, he had work sessions with mayors of Lambayeque, to address the feasibility of various projects.
