Mirtha Vásquez: Government will expand intervention of Pension 65 and Juntos social programs

The president of the Council of Ministers, Mirtha Vasquez, announced before Congress that the intervention of the Pension Program 65 to serve more elderly people living in poverty.

The head of the Cabinet alleged that this is due to the fact that the elderly were the most vulnerable in this pandemic.

Thus, he explained, in the middle of the confidence vote, that the proposal will be a gradual increase to reach 717,539 older adults by 2026, through the grant of S / 250 every two months that will help them alleviate the terrible situation of extreme poverty that they live.

It should be noted that in 2021, 557,043 older adults have received care.

At another point, the premier mentioned that by the end of 2021, 670,422 households from the JUNTOS Program will have received Bimonthly money transfer of S / 200. Likewise, it will seek to increase its goal in 2023, to provide care to 822,000 homes in a sustained manner by 2026.

“We hope that this support will help reduce the unjust intergenerational transfer of poverty,” said Vásquez, recalling that the misery of monetary poverty in Peru increased in 2020, affecting 30.1% of the population.

As you remember, after 15 years, the TOGETHER Program approved the elimination of the geographic fence, with which, now it can intervene in all the districts of the country, prioritizing the affiliation of households with pregnant women and / or children under 12 months of age.

To do this, a two-year stay will apply to households with daughters / sons under one year of age or attending secondary education.
