Starting next Tuesday, February 22, 120 enterprises of Venezuelan migrants legally residing in Ecuador will receive seed capital for their operation or startup. Each business will receive $2,600.
The initiative is part of the “Creating opportunities for prosperity” project, executed by the Export and Investment Promotion Corporation (Corpei) since 2020, thanks to the donation agreement signed between the Republic of South Korea and Ecuador.
The enterprises belong to the food, child care, beauty, footwear, commerce, decoration, cabinetmaking, teaching, industry, advertising, health, services, technology, textile, tourism and veterinary sectors.
One of these ventures is that of the Venezuelan Raymar Cove, which has a bakery and pastry business. “It is a very important initiative for us who came from scratch, with practically nothing, and it is a good opportunity for those of us who have a venture or a business idea to get ahead,” said Cova, who is a lawyer and administrator by profession.

Of the 120 benefited projects, 71% are in operation and 49% will start with the seed capital; on the other hand, 76% are led by women and 24% are led by men.
The beneficiaries successfully completed each stage of the program, whose main objective is to improve the economy and quality of life of Venezuelan migrants legally residing in the country.
Corpei gave the applicants virtual training to strengthen their skills as professionals, support for the creation of business profiles and guidance for them to develop their business plans. In addition, they were registered in an employment exchange.
The benefited migrants will carry out their enterprises in Quito (52%), Guayaquil (26%), Manta (19%) and Cuenca (3%), cities where they have established their homes in Ecuador.
