The Basque Executive has summoned the Spanish Government to have “political will” to resolve issues on which there is no consensus.
The Basque and Spanish governments have not been able to close the agreement to transfer the management of the Minimum Living Incomedespite the fact that the lehendakari, Iñigo Urkullu, had shown hope of closing the deal at the meeting this Wednesday.
As Lehendakaritza explained in a note, this afternoon’s meeting ended “without consensus on issues that affect the management procedure” of the IMV, and he regretted that these “could be overcome with political will”.
As reported by the Basque Government, after today’s telematic meeting, which lasted about two hours, the Minister of Public Governance and Self-Government, Olatz Garamendi, will speak with the Minister of Territorial Policy, Isabel Rodríguez, to “look for an exit”.
For the Basque Government, the lack of agreement has meant A disappointment” after the “important advances in the most complex issues during the negotiation of the transfer process”.
“In any case, the Minister of Public Governance and Self-Government maintains the hope that an agreement can finally be closed,” he said.
Garamendi reiterated last Friday that the Basque Government “is not going to allow any transfer to measures”, after assuring that at the moment “the agreement is closer to the characteristics that this transfer must have”, although he has acknowledged that there are still ” aspects to shield”.
The technical presentation for the transfer of the IMV is a bilateral forum that discusses the “technical differences” between both executives with the aim of closing a definitive agreement, from which an economic assessment of the competition must be made to close the transfer in the Mixed Commission between both governments.
