In Ecuador there are 683 large taxpayers, between individuals and companies.
More than $ 3 billion in taxes from large taxpayers in the period May-September 2021 collected by the Internal Revenue Service (SRI). This represents an additional $ 442 million compared to the same period last year.
The economic sectors that reported the highest participation in the collection were financial and insurance, commerce, manufacturing, telecommunications, oil and mines.
Between May and September 2021, the Department of Large Taxpayers completed 77 control processes whose yield amounted to $ 132 million; and achieved a recovery of $ 62 million.
The general director of the SRI, Marisol Andrade, indicated that in Ecuador there are 683 large taxpayers, between individuals and companies, and that the collection figures are the result of the actions carried out by the SRI to control the correct fulfillment of tax obligations of these taxpayers who represent more than 55% of the total collection.

“Large taxpayers are those companies or individuals considered by the SRI as such, due to their fiscal importance and number of transactions in their respective sectors, so it is essential to execute permanent and specialized control and monitoring,” Andrade mentioned.
The Large Taxpayers Directorate was created in May of this year as an operational unit in accordance with the best international practices, in order to ensure and increase the collection potential. (I)
