The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) reported that in the moving quarter of November-December 2021 and January of this year, the employed population of Metropolitan Lima reached 4 million 861,900 people, increasing by 9.5% (423 thousand 300 people), with respect to the same of the previous year.
However, compared to the pre-pandemic quarter (November to January 2020), there is a contraction of -3.5% (-175,400 people).

Likewise, the population with adequate employment in the capital, compared to last year, increased by 11.7% (279,500 people), although compared to the beginning of 2020, it fell by 18.2% (591,300 people).
In this sense, the population with adequate employment in the study quarter reaches 2 million 660,000 people.
On the other hand, the unemployment rate stood at 8.6%, being 4.4 percentage points lower than in the same quarter of the previous year (13.0%). INEI estimates that 458,500 people actively searched for work.
As for sectors, manufacturing increased its employment rates to 15.2%, followed by construction (12.7%), services (9.0%) and commerce (4.7%) compared to the same quarter of the previous year .
