Tapia regrets that the Next funds are arriving “with a dropper” and not those that correspond to Euskadi

The Minister of Economic Development, Sustainability and the Environment affirms that the “most important funds, those destined to transform the economy” are yet to arrive, although she trusts that they will.

The Minister of Economic Development, Sustainability and the Environment of the Basque Government, Arantxa Tapiahas lamented that the Generation Next recovery funds they are arriving “with a dropper” and, in any case, they are not doing so to the extent that corresponds to Euskadi. According to the counselor, “the most important (funds), those destined to transform the economy, are still far away (…) If we look at what corresponds to us by Gross Domestic Product (GDP), by population or by what we contribute to the Quota the resources that correspond to us are not reaching us. We hope to get them back in 2022.”

In an interview granted to the Radio Euskadi program “Boulevard”, Tapia also referred to the crisis in Ukraine and he has hoped that the conflict will not break out, “since it is of no interest to anyone”, while he has warned of the effects it would have on gas and oil prices.

Questioned about the transfer to Madrid of the executive headquarters of Siemens Gamesa, has reiterated that the movement “generates distrust” and has indicated that this was transferred to the president of the company. “Even so, Siemens Gamesa has a quite complicated situation, and the CEO’s job is to redirect and redirect that situation. We trust that he will do it and we will see how he works from Madrid”, he pointed out.

Lastly, he shared the analysis of the Minister of Ecological Transition, Teresa Ribera, of the need to “accelerate the energy transition” but he stressed that “it must be planned well, since it has to be appropriate to the situation of each place. We have to be realistic in how”. Thus, he insisted that “the debate on gas or nuclear energy is not on the table in Euskadi” and that the Basque Government is committed to promoting renewables, increasing energy efficiency, as well as replacing gas with hydrogen, “which is still not at an adequate price”.
