Food exports to Asia grew 31.5% in 2021, according to ADEX

Exports to the Asian market of the traditional agricultural, agricultural-agroindustrial and non-traditional fishing sectors accumulated US$1,572 million in 2021. The amount represents an increase of 31.5% compared to 2020 (US$1,195 million), reported the Association of Exporters (ADEX).

In detail, according to the ADEX Data Trade Commercial Intelligence System, shipments to Asia in the agribusiness sector totaled US$921,773,000, which is equivalent to an increase of 44.2%, non-traditional fishing US$596,384,000 (+ 17.4%) and primary agriculture US$54,521,000 (+11.8%).

The product most demanded by that continent was fresh grapes (US$ 248,457,000), followed by frozen squid and squid, as well as blueberries. They also highlighted the prepared or preserved squid and squid; avocado; prawns; livers, roe and milk; cocoa beans; coffee and fresh seaweed.

Likewise, China with US$ 530 million 885,000 was the most important destination with a concentration of 33.7% and a growth of 59%. Second place was occupied by South Korea (US$ 323,313,000) with a representation of 20.5% and an increase of 6.5%. They completed the top five Hong Kong, Japan and Thailand.
