More than 12,200 tourist establishments will apply the VAT reduction from 12% to 8% during carnival. Here the list

There are 12,234 hotels, inns, restaurants, cafeterias, ice cream parlors, travel agencies, airlines and other establishments that are part of the tourism sector that will be enabled to apply the value added tax (VAT) reduction on their products or services during the holiday carnival, between Saturday February 26 and Tuesday March 1, 2022.

The Ministry of Tourism published the registry of these establishments, after verifying -in coordination with the Internal Revenue Service (SRI)- the information of the tourist services that will benefit from the reduction from 12% to 8% decreed by President Guillermo Lasso, as a result of the Law on Economic Development and Fiscal Sustainability, which introduced the power of the president to reduce the VAT rate for the provision of all services defined as tourist activities, for up to a maximum of twelve days a year during holidays or weekends.

The publication was made on its institutional portal so that verification can be carried out. Until next Wednesday, adjustments can be made to that cadastre.

By reinforcing security, the VAT reduction to 8% proposed by Guillermo Lasso for the carnival holiday would have a better impact on tourism

Establishments must verify that their data is in the updated cadastre and if they are not, contact the email catastros@turismo.gob.ec, attaching the RUC, in which the name of the establishment with tourism registration is stated, for the corresponding readjustment to be made until February 16, 2022. That is the deadline for sending the information to the collecting entity to include your establishment in the list.
