The machine tool sector expects to exceed pre-pandemic turnover this year

The Association of Machine Tool Manufacturers (AFM) has reported the results for the 2021 financial year and the outlook for the sector. He assured that 2021 has been “a good year in general, but quite uneven depending on the client sector”.

The machine tool sector plans to improve its turnover figures prior to the pandemic after closing a 2021 financial year in which turnover has risen by 15.40% up to 1,528 million euros.

The Association of Machine Tool Manufacturers (AFM) has reported this Friday in a statement from the results for the year 2021 Y from The perspectives of the sector, which has already recovered to a “good extent” the drop in sales caused by covid-19.

The director general of AFM, Xabier Ortueta, has assured that 2021 has been “a good year in general, but quite uneven depending on the sector customer to which manufacturers are oriented”. Ortueta has assured that, in any case, the sector is witnessing a “clear rebound” after the “drastic drop” experienced during the first six months of the pandemic. “Now we must manage the difficulties caused by that rebound in the supply chain, also focusing on maintaining the positions taken,” he warned.

The exports have grown by 19.72% to reach 1,204.38 million euros. As for the main destinations of sales abroad, they include the United States, China, Germany, Italy and France.
