Pedro Castillo is originally from Puña (Tacabamba district, Cajamarca region). Francke considers that, as this town does not have internet access, “the economic policy discussions They’re not that common.” According to Francke, in the rural highlands of the country it is difficult for a person like Castillo to talk with economists, political scientists or sociologists.

“I think that his origins as a rural teacher also makes him have this additional difficulty in understanding the different personalities, visions and issues that exist in the Government,” Francke remarked at another point in the interview.

Francke: advisers seem to be more important than the cabinet

Former Minister Francke also referred to the so-called “shadow cabinet” that President Pedro Castillo would have. He indicated that this group of advisers has become relevant for decisions made by the Executive. He also stated that this situation was “uncomfortable”.
