Government will observe Fonavi law and propose partial return of contributions

The Minister of Economy and Finance, Oscar Graham, reported that the Government will observe the autograph approved by Congress that seeks to guarantee the return of contributions from the National Housing Fund (Fonavi).

“The commitment is to return the contributions made more immediately and more quickly, including the updating of these contributions. But, what we are communicating is that we are going to observe this autograph”, said the head of the MEF.

Graham explained that they will not approve the autograph of Congress because it includes the contributions made by the workers and that made by their employers, a criterion that makes the debt to be remedied amount to S / 42,000 million.

Along these lines, the proposal that the Executive will present to Congress will only recognize the contributions made by the workers, with which the debt would be S/ 6,000 million.

“The autograph includes two concepts, contributions from employers and the state, they are contributions that, if included in the return, would generate a serious imbalance in public finances, with which we would go from a return of S/ 6,600 million to S/ 42,000 million; it is fiscally unfeasible,” Graham said.

The official also announced that, while the contribution return plan is organized, the Government will present an additional alternative to give immediate liquidity to the Fonavistas.

The return process would be through the publication of lists, prioritizing the vulnerable population.
