Áncash led the production of copper, zinc and silver during 2021

The Mining Statistics Bulletin (BEM) of the Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) revealed that Áncash became the main copper-producing region during 2021 with an accumulated 464,909 fine metric tons (FMT) of the metal, which reflects a growth of 16.3% compared to the result of 2020 (399,791 TMF). In the national production of silver, Ancash It was also in the lead with a total of 650,418 kilograms (kg.) fine extracted during 2021. The result is 22.8% higher than that of 2020: 529,688 kg fine, also specifies the BEM.

The good result of copper production, zinc and silver in Ancash is mainly due to the operations of Compañía Minera Antamina SA In the case of the red metal, the company produced 460,652 TMF last year, which represents 20% of the national total; while in zinc, it added 532,603 ​​TMF (34.8% share).
