This Saturday, October 23, President Pedro Castillo announced the beginning of the development of the infrastructure for the massification of natural gas for the regions of Cusco, Puno, Apurímac, Arequipa, Moquegua, Tacna, Ayacucho and Ucayali.

The president provided this information through his Twitter account, where he also indicated that this was one of the commitments assumed by his Government to benefit the people. “The implementation of the new natural gas massification policy will go hand in hand with the renegotiation of the Camisea contract”, wrote.

“We have unparalleled agricultural, mining and gas wealth, and we will not allow our resources to be misused. Peru has to be a fair and equitable country, and that our benefits guarantee better living conditions and opportunities for all Peruvian families ”, he added.

National Energy Policy of Peru 2010-2040

Supreme Resolution No. 108-2021 PCM, approved by the Council of Ministers, provides that the multisectoral commission for the massification of natural gas is made up of the president of the Council of Ministers and the ministers of Energy and Mines, Economy and Finance, Foreign Trade and Tourism, Justice and Human Rights, and Foreign Relations, as well as by the president of Petroperú SA

The resolution states that the commission must deliver a final report with proposals for the development of natural gas infrastructure that allows overcrowding in these regions within the framework of Peru’s National Energy Policy 2010-2040.

With this new initiative, the Executive seeks to put this resource at the service of Peruvians at a fair price on a national scale for the benefit of multi-family homes and social institutions, such as dining rooms, common pots, medical posts, hospitals and shelters.

In addition, it emphasizes that it will help the reactivation of productive activities such as commerce and transport.
