In addition, the report will include the findings and contributions on technical assistance and advice to the State for the containment, mitigation and cleaning of the affected areas, for the management and coordination of the emergency and to reduce the risk of future disasters caused by oil spills. oil in the ocean, including recommendations on methodologies and regulations.
This was achieved after work sessions with national and subnational entities of the Peruvian State, and tours and technical visits to the affected area and to the Repsol company’s La Pampilla refinery. Work was also carried out in collaboration with the UN System in Peru, headed by the Office of the Resident Coordinator, to provide greater assistance to the affected communities if requested.
As recalled, on January 16, residents and fishermen from Ventanilla began to report the presence of oil on the beaches.
